Our tester Claire was amazed by the clean packaging that was easy to open and found it one of the fastest and most simple pieces of baby gear to put together. She took it for a spin around some tough terrain and was thrilled with its performance.
Seats
The majority of triple buggies are designed as single pushchairs. Some models can be converted to accept the second seat using adapters. You’ll also see that some models allow you to include a ride-onboard for older children who want to walk but require some help.
Take a look at the Joie Evalite Duo for an ultra-lightweight option that is perfect for city streets. It’s easy to maneuver and has a large basket that is full of storage. It can be used for twins beginning at birth and will accept two car seats, or a carrycot that has a seat. The seats have to face forward and there is no room to store an item under the seat. You will require an extra sidepack.
If you like to take off-road trips, the Mountain Buggy Duet is a good option. It’s a side-byside model with the slimmest footprint of any double buggy on the market. It is easier to get through narrow doors as well as on public transport. It is also able to climb over and up kerbs. It also has a handbrake that is attached to the handlebar that can be adjusted for more security and safety.
The UPPAbaby Vista 2 double is a lightweight option that can be used by twins or a baby and toddler. The seats have a multi-position reclining with UPF 50+ sunshades. The canopy can be adjusted so that the sun doesn’t reach your child’s eyes. The Vista 2 can be converted into an UPPAbaby triple by incorporating UPPAbaby’s “PiggyBack” board for older children.
The iCandy Orange is one of the most well-known double buggies available, thanks to its superb comfort. It’s an all-terrain model with soft suspension that is able to handle bumpy surfaces. It can be used in 30 seating configurations, and has a built-in ride-on board for older children who prefer walking as well as a ‘cinema’ seating mode that raises the back seat to improve visibility.
Alternatively, the phil&teds dot is a brilliant single buggy from the beginning that can then easily adapt to take 2 (or 3!) in various configurations. This is especially useful when you have a child in a car seat since the frame can be fitted with a wedgie to allow for optimal lie-flat positioning, or car seat adapters for many brands.
Suspension
The quality of the suspension in a 3-wheel double buggy 3 wheels buggy is essential to how it will be easy for you and your baby to push. A smooth ride is crucial as babies can feel every bump in the road, especially if it’s on rough terrain like grass or paths that aren’t paved. Certain models also have locking front wheels to help with maneuvering and getting over obstacles like curbs.
Some models have tyres with air filled which are ideal for all-terrain riding, but they are susceptible to punctures. Make sure you keep an extra set of tyres inside the trunk. Some models have foam or gel-filled tyres that are designed to absorb bumps. They are less likely to puncture, however they could be uncomfortable for your child if you decide to run.

MFM reviewer Kath tested the Urban Glide 2 with her newborn and 3-year-old and found it to be extremely capable on terrain that is difficult to navigate. “It navigated effortlessly across bumpy sidewalks and grass cobbles, dirt tracks. It was also easy to maneuver around corners and get up or down kerbs.” It’s also very comfortable to jog on, thanks to the 16″ rear wheels and lockable swivel front wheels providing a safe jogging experience.” The Urban Glide 2 is loaded with features too, including a spacious basket with zip-top cover large cushioned seat, 50+ UV hood and game-changing lights that are simple to use and recharge.
Folding
A 3 wheel double buggy can fold pretty well for storage. There are models that fold flat and stand up (as though they were in a pushchair) and those that are able to open up to reveal more umbrella-style folding with a hand-operated break. The more wheels the buggy is equipped with, in general the more easy it will be to maneuver on rough terrain. This is especially true if the wheels are larger than average size. You will have more stability and it will be less likely that you need to tip over or flip your child.
The most popular model is the iCandy Wave, which can be used from birth using an infant car seat. It then converts to a side-by-side double buggy once your child is old enough to allow them to sit next to each one. It is a lightweight option that is simple to push. It also comes with a bumper bar as well as rain cover.
The phil&teds sports is an alternative option. It is a future-proof model as it’s an excellent buggy, and can be modified to take two (or three!) All of this fits into its compact footprint. It is a clever 3 wheel pushchair travel system-wheel design and the sling seat to provide better maneuverability, stability, and kerb pop.
This is one of the most comfortable double buggies to run with your children. It features an adjustable front wheel that locks, which can help you maintain control on rough terrain or off-road. It’s a light compact model that folds with one hand. It’s perfect for traveling. It’s compatible with an extensive variety of infant car seats and has an easy-to-pull-out undercarriage bag that can be used to store items. It is a bit expensive however, it does have some standout features, such as its one-click folding, as well as a variety of additional features, such as bumper bars or raincovers.
Stores
One thing that many people appreciate about a good triple wheeled double buggy is its storage capabilities. Its clever frame expands widthways to accommodate a second seat but it still only weighs about 11kg so it’s easy to move and lift. It can be used with the car seat, a carrycot, or both. This allows you to enjoy the best of both worlds.
