This is a good option to consider if you’re looking for a basic robot cleaner, but without the features of other models. It is capable of removing pet hair, kitty litter and Cheerios on hardwood floors and even sucked up sand in my tests.

It is fast and accurate in mapping rooms, and it is able to avoid obstacles with ease. It can be controlled manually using the remote included.

1. Roomba irobot roomba combo s9+

The s9+ robot vacuum is one of the best we’ve ever tested for cleaning hard floors and carpets. It has the strongest suction power of any robot vacuum cleaner available. It also excels at eliminating pet hair. It can also be programmed to perform multiple passes or adjust the level of suction depending on the size of the room, which is something we haven’t yet seen on other models. Its app lets you modify the way it functions and choose when it starts working so you can be in the room while it’s moving.

The smart mapping feature creates an accurate map of your home, which can aid the s9+ in navigation and create efficient routes. It also self-empties so you don’t need to be around to assist. It also recharges itself in mid-clean. In our testing the s9+ blasted around obstacles like tables and power cables easily and never lost its charge or became stuck. However, it lacks the hazard avoidance capability that is available in newer models. It can also become entangled in carpet tassels or other obstacles that are difficult to see.

The s9+ has a flat front, unlike the majority of circular robots. It also has a squared-off front which allows it to reach corners more easily than models with round fronts. It is also quieter than our previous irobot roomba for pets robot and smaller than the Neato Botvac D7. It’s not cheap, but you will get plenty for your money considering the quality of its operation and you don’t have to worry about emptying the trash bin afterwards. It’s often offered for sale at Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Amazon Prime Day.

2. Roomba j7+ from iRobot

The j7+ robot vacuum is among the most intelligent vacuum cleaners on the market. It’s equipped with iRobot Genius technology that gives it the ability to recognize obstacles and maneuver around them, meaning that you don’t need to worry about it hitting into walls or furniture. It slows down when it comes closer to an object in order to gently clean its edges. This is particularly beneficial if you have small pets who leave their messes behind.

The j7+ is also able to mop and vacuum due to a mopsitter. When it recognizes that you’re standing on a surface that requires mopping, it switches from the normal cleaning mode and deploys the robot arm with a pad attached. It mopped the floor with a gentle touch leaving my floors looking and feeling like they had been thoroughly cleaned.

The J7+ recharges itself after it is done mopping. It then drives back to where it left off, and continues cleaning. It usually runs for around 85 minutes, if not more in my house, before needing to return to the dock to recharge. This is less than the s9+, but it’s nonetheless impressive for a device that can do both vacuuming and mopping.

The j7+, like other irobot robot vacuum cleaner vacuum cleaners, avoids obstacles and detects them. It also features what iRobot calls Cliff Detect technology, which prevents it from taking a tumble down the stairs. It’s an excellent security feature for families with children.

The j7+ has a relatively small onboard bin which means that it will have to return to the dock and empty it frequently if you have a large home. The j7+ can be tucked away easily. The Clean Base, which comes with it, serves as charging dock, a separate dustbin, and an internal bin that the j7+ can deposit dirt into.

3. Shark iQ

This robot vacuums carpets and hard surfaces at the same time. Matrix Clean Navigation is also included, which utilizes a grid matrix to cover the entire home. The vacuum emptys itself after every run, and you can see its current battery’s life and condition by looking at a pair of lights on top. Press the button to open the bin and empty it. It can hold up to a week’s worth garbage, and the process is easy enough to do from any place in the house.

Despite its impressive performance on plain floors, this model has some shortcomings on low-pile carpet and is unable to take in bulky debris as its dirt compartment gets full. It is robust and long-lasting battery life. You can extend this by using the energy-efficient ‘Eco mode’.

The Shark IQ is compatible with both Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant and allows you to control it using your voice. The app lets you name your robot (mine is Sharky Shark), remotely activate and schedule its runs, and track your cleaning history as well as any errors that are notified. You can make a map of your home and set up no-go zones manually.

The Shark iQ is more expensive than the iRobot Roomba j7+, but it has more features for mapping and apps and superior cleaning capabilities on all surface types. It also charges faster and gets stuck on rug tassels fewer frequently, which decreases the cost of recurring repairs. However, this model is unable to avoid areas that contain pet bowls or furniture and you must use physical boundary strips to keep it from specific objects.

4. iRobot Roomba 694

The Roomba 694 is an elegant and stylish design that will complement your home decor. It’s a great robot for those looking for a machine they can install and forget about. It identifies your habits for cleaning to offer up personalized schedules, and works with Google Assistant or Alexa voice assistants to let you start cleaning with the sound of your voice. A full suite of sensors allows it to navigate the natural obtacles in your home while cleaning. A smart bumper cushions the impact when it bumps against furniture legs or walls. Four “cliff” sensors on the side and front alert it when it’s nearing a dropoff, like stairs or a balcon, and it’s also able to reverse.

This model is a great option for the robot vacuums under $300 price range. It comes with a three-stage cleaning system that has a dual multi-surface brushes to remove dirt from carpeted or hard floors. A tool for edge-sweeping takes care of edges and corners. This robot vacuum also has many features that make it easier to use, including Dirt Detect, which is a system that automatically is more active in heavily soiled areas. It can also be set manually to clean at certain times, and has an app that allows remote control.

The Roomba 694 from iRobot isn’t as technologically advanced as the i7 that can self-empty its own dust bin but it lacks an integrated mapping system or the capability to create virtual boundary markers. It’s more robust and has lower recurring expenses than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also has a larger dust bin and is charged faster.

5. Eufy 11s

The Eufy 11s is an incredibly small elegant robot vacuum that gives an excellent value for the money. It can remove pet hair easily and has a huge dirt compartment, and can run for a long duration on just one charge. It’s difficult to maintain and navigate, which is a major issue. It’s not equipped with an app companion to it and voice control, however it does have an easy-to-use remote. It doesn’t notify you when the bin is full. You’ll have to check it often.

The eufy has many advantages over the Bobsweep Bob Pro, but in certain areas, it’s not as effective as the iRobot Roomba 694. The iRobot is more durable, has less components that require regular maintenance, features a HEPA filter that can last longer on a single charge, and delivers better cleaning performance on carpeted floors as well as low- and high-pile carpet. It also comes with a smarter navigation system that can navigate over obstacles and incorporate more advanced automation features, such as boundary strips.

Although the eufy is still an acceptable option I would suggest the iRobot Roomba 900 Series for most users. The iRobot is more durable, easier to maintain, has a bigger dustbin, and provides superior performance on all surface types. It’s also quicker to recharge and offers a longer maximum battery life.

The eufy can be an excellent alternative to the ILIFE A4s. However, it’s not as effective as a premium robot like the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra. The iRobot has a better build, a larger dustbin and is able to pay for fewer monthly expenses. It also has a better navigation system that can move around obstacles and more advanced automation capabilities, including boundary strips. The iRobot is also better in collecting pet hair and is easier to maintain than the eufy.
