World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Item upgrades are a key element of enhancing your character. Upgrades boost damage to items and enchantments.
They also provide bonuses and enhancements. The Blacksmith can sell them to you.
The upgrade button is located on any item upgrader mod. Each item recycled adds a level to the gauge for upgrading.
Weapons
When the weapon is upgraded it is granted a base damage bonus as well as an increase in the scaling factor that affects other stats. Some upgrade components have aesthetic effects while others give additional benefits. These upgrades can be inserted into armor, weapons trinkets, and gathering tools. Most require that the equipment have an available upgrade slot and meet certain specifications. When a weapon or armor piece is equipped with an upgrade component it, it is able to be upgraded with a different one, but the prior upgrade will be destroyed (except for legendary equipment and upgrades). Upgrade components can be found using the Black Lion Salvage Kit Ascended Salvage tool, or a higher-tier salvaging tool on an item.
A weapon can also be upgraded to include a Calibration attribute that boosts certain stats, such as Weakspot damage or Crit Rate. This can be done via the Gear Workbench interaction menu. This can be done four times, based on weapon level.
Once the weapon is at the maximum level of upgrade, it may be reforged with a number of different upgrade types to boost certain stats or add bonuses and effects. These upgrades can be applied simultaneously and their effects will differ based on how rare the weapon is.
There are two Blacksmiths in the game who can perform these upgrades: Blacksmith Hewg in the Church of Elleh hub area as well as Smithing Master Iji on the Road to the Manor Site of Grace. Both require different upgrade item materials: Smithing Stones for standard weapons, and Somber Smithing Stones for modifying the kind of damage a weapon can cause.
In general, it’s advisable to upgrade your weapon damage first. Then you can improve your armor defense, and then those secondary stats required by your build. In particular, it is common to see melee druids enhancing their weapon before any other gear, since this can increase DPS. This is especially applicable to enchantments that enhance a weapon’s stats and damage.
Armor
Item upgrades allow players to improve the base stats of certain pieces of armor trinkets, weapons, trinkets, and gathering tools. They can also provide additional effects like increased damage or cosmetic enhancements. Item upgrades can be obtained through crafting, buying from NPC vendors, or in loot drops or as quest rewards.

Most armor upgrades increase the strength or defense of an item by a small amount. Certain upgrade components, however could result in significant improvements in defense or strength. This is particularly relevant when upgrading epic items.
Some upgrades provide special abilities that can be activated when wearing armor. These abilities can be very useful in combat. For example they can boost the speed of attack or block. Certain upgrades provide effect that are passive and can be useful, such as decreasing damage when wearing armor or increasing the chance of avoiding an attack.
Upgrades to armor may require multiple attempts, based on the type. For example the case of a player wanting to upgrade an existing Steelclash armor to Dragonscale, the first attempt would result in a new piece of Dragonscale with an initial defense range of 59 and 67. The second attempt will result in a brand new Dragonscale armor with the base defense between 67 and 77, and the list goes on.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild lets players to upgrade their armor sets up to level 4. To upgrade their armor, players must visit the four Great Fairy Fountains found in the game. Each of these locations houses the power of a fairy who can upgrade item a piece of armor for the player.
Contrary to popular belief, armor in The Division 2 is not useless. Certain armors give a substantial increase in the ability to reduce damage from poison or curse, magic or fire. This makes them useful for certain types of builds. There are also ways to increase the stats of armor beyond the use of upgradeable armor, such as the engineer trait that increases armor penetration or the challenger trait to lower the weight of the entire armor.
