What is EEPROM?
The EEPROM chip is a nonvolatile memory that can be erased or reprogrammed. In 1996, the government ordered that all vehicles utilize a standard system for reading diagnostic codes. This new system called OBD-II utilizes the same diagnostic code and port system for all models and models that are sold in the US. This means that any mechanic can quickly diagnose a problem with your vehicle by plugging in the specific tool.
The OBD-II system reads a wide variety of issues in the engine as well as other parts of the vehicle with an ordinary diagnostic connector.
