If you own pets, a robot vacuum is required to keep up with the fur shedding. Pick a model that comes with a large dustbin and can empty it.
You should consider a model with mapping and virtual no-go lines to keep it away from areas with high risk of injury, like pet bowls and beds. Look for models that have intelligent features, such as the ability to schedule or use a smartphone application.
1. Neato D7
The D7 is the most powerful model in the Neato robotic vacuum line. It has excellent navigation and is controlled by Alexa or the app. Contrary to other robots that struggle to navigate through rooms without a map, the D7 uses advanced sensors and lasers to make a digital map of your home. This lets you create virtual “No-Go” lines in a matter of a few clicks of your finger. This means that the D7 will be able to avoid areas it should not go (without the need for barriers or towers).
The D7’s ability to clean is impressive. It can pick up an average of 99.8 percent of Cheerios scattered across the floor, which is a bit better than the Roomba i7+’s 94.6 percent and the Shark Ion R85’s 100% percent. The D7 can also maneuver well both on bare carpet and high-pile.
Another nice feature is the option to select between two different levels of cleaning. The Eco mode runs the vacuum more quietly and prolongs the runtime, whereas the Turbo mode delivers more effective cleaning. However, the Turbo mode operates at a loud, unfriendly volume which can be a problem when you’re using the D7 while you’re working or watching TV.
The D7 is one of the few robots that are capable of creating and storage of multiple floor plans. This is ideal for multi-level houses. It also comes with a quick boost feature, which permits it to return to its base and recharge prior to continuing cleaning. This is particularly helpful for cleaning areas that are difficult to clean. Neato’s mobile application is easy to use and is regularly updated with new features. For the price, it is among the top robots for thick carpet and pet hair available.
2. Eufy RoboVac ElevenS
The Eufy 11S, like the Neato D7 is sleek and low profile. This allows it to get under couches, beds and coffee tables more easily than other robot vacuums. It also features some innovative features that allow it to clean better and get to where you want it, like the no-go lines that you can draw on maps that stop it from cleaning sensitive areas such as pet bowls or beds. It also comes with an auto recharge and resume feature, in the event that the battery dies before it finishes cleaning the area, it will make its way back to its base to recharge and then returns to where it left off.
The RoboVac 11S performs better than its predecessor, the RoboVac 30C which is eufy and also better than the ILIFE A4s and bObsweep Bob Pro in our tests. Its dirt compartment is larger and has a longer battery time, and it can remove more debris on everything from floors that are bare to carpets that are high and low-pile. It is also easier to maintain, incurs fewer regular costs, and is better able to maneuver itself.
This vacuum isn’t the ideal choice for floors with no carpet. However, it is a great option for those with medium carpeting and pets. It makes use of random navigation and sensors in its bumper and underbelly to navigate around obstacles. It’s not as sophisticated as other robots’ mapping technologies but it’s enough to access the corners and nooks that other robots cannot reach. It has spin brushes to clean walls, and a 0.6-liter dust bin. It includes an actual remote control with an all-black display, a charging dock with four side brushes that can be attached, two extra filters, and a cleaning tool.
3. iLife VS3 Professional
If you own pets, you’ll need an effective robot vacuum to get rid of pet hair. This clings to carpets and floors and can make even the strongest robot vacuums struggle. To be clear I test how well robots gather cat and dog hair by measuring how much of it they can pick up from a floor in a 5-foot-by-5-foot area. I also test whether the robot is able to navigate through household terrain. This includes how it moves over thresholds, over tables and furniture, and under the couch. Some robots are able to identify their homes with sensors. They can feel their way around and build a 3D model of the home. This lets them better avoid obstacles during subsequent cleaning cycles.
The iLife V3s Pro is one of the best robot vacuum and mop combo for pet hair models we tested for navigating through your home. It’s also very affordable. It also performed well on my tests for removing pet hair, snagging nearly all of the hair off hardwood floors, and just a little lower when testing on carpet.
The V3s Pro, unlike many other robot vacuums, doesn’t utilize a brush roll. It instead relies on two side brushes that rotate to move debris toward a 3-inch opening at its base. While this isn’t the most efficient system for carpet but it’s still awe-inspiring for such an inexpensive unit.
The iLife V3s Pro is also capable of mopping. It can do an OK job on bare floors and also took out fake Christmas tree needles, bits of tinsel, and crumbles of mud in my mopping tests. It’s not as good as the best self emptying robot vacuum and mop for pet hair best self emptying robot vacuum and mop for pet hair mop.
4. Roborock s7
Roborock S7 robot vacuum is a fantastic value. It boasts impressive technology capabilities. The mid-priced model works as well as many high-end models and is easy to operate and maintain. It also has a wide array of high-end features that mimic the capabilities of robots with twice the cost. This makes it an ideal choice for a first-time purchaser or someone who wants to upgrade from an entry-level model, or anyone looking to cut down on time and effort while cleaning their home.
This robot is equally comfortable on floors that are unfinished as it is on carpet. Its 2,000Pa of suction power is sufficient to take on heavy-soiled carpets that are thick and densely soiled. It can even clean pet hair in crevices and cracks on plain floors. It’s sturdy, moves easily, and works with voice commands from Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant for hands-free operation. The battery is smaller than other models, but still enough to power homes in most cases.
The s7 what is the best self emptying robot vacuum for pet hair also able to be used as mopping robot. It comes with a 200ml water tank as well as a mopping plate that easily attaches to the back of the robot. Simply add water and a microfiber fabric and the s7 will begin cleaning your floors. The s7 will turn off and return to its dock after the mopping is completed.
The companion app is simple to use, and has a slick layout and plenty of functions. You can draw a map of your house, set virtual boundary lines that the s7 can’t cross, establish zones of no-go areas or simply instruct it to clean a specific room. You can also check its maintenance history, its current status, and track its performance.
5. Neato Q5 Pro
The Neato Q5 Pro is a versatile robot vacuum that excels at bare floors and cleans up a lot of dirt on both high and low-pile carpet. It is extremely built, has a comprehensive range of navigation options and is easy to maintain. It has a shorter battery life and more regular costs than other models.
The Q5 is among the most slow robots we’ve tested, however, its layout algorithm is reliable and doesn’t require any additional attention after its first pass through the space. It begins by tracing out a perimeter, then fills in the interior using the lines of a series. When it’s done the device returns to its charging station or its starting location if it started away from the base.
It did an excellent job of cleaning hardwood floors by sucking at minimum 88% dirt from each test. It was more difficult to clean carpets with a high and low pile however, it still performed better than the average unit. It also has mopping attachments to tackle wet spills, although we haven’t tested this feature.
Its maneuverability, which is above average for a lidar robot is that it can bump into furniture or other obstacles with a soft bump. Its navigation system can detect stairs and multiple floors, allowing it to efficiently tackle multistory homes. It also can identify specific rooms when you choose them within the app. It is also able to adjust its power level, establish no-go zones and show a map of the current cleaning area. The Q5 is controlled through the mobile app, or via voice commands from Alexa, Google Assistant and Apple Siri.
