Best All Terrain Stroller
All terrain strollers are the best option if you enjoy running or hiking on trails that are rocky or strolling around parks with grassy areas. You’ll need large, sturdy tires with a suspension that can withstand the rough terrain.
All terrain strollers help you to instill an early enthusiasm for nature in your child. We look at ease of use and maneuverability. This includes the ability to access the basket, engage the brakes, and then insert and remove an infant seat (where appropriate).
The best all terrain prams Overall Stroller
If you’re planning on carrying a stroller for a long time, it must be able to do more than take your child from point A to point B. Strollers multiply faster than rabbits. A stroller that can handle all your family’s outings is a wise choice.
Nuna MIXX Next is a multi-purpose stroller that can do everything. It’s easy to store, folds down compactly and can be easily walked on sidewalks cobblestone, grass, and sidewalks. The lightweight PIPA Urbn car seat is also available as a bundle for a complete travel solution. It’s more expensive than our other choices but our test-driver said it was well worth the cost since it’s sturdy and can easily take on even the roughest of outings.
For a lightweight stroller that can handle more difficult terrain, opt for a three-wheeler. The Thule Shine was a past winner of this category. It’s more expensive than our other choices but it’s sturdy, and has a lot of features (car seat compatible! dual cup holders!) which makes it a worthwhile investment. It can also be folded to fit in the overhead bin of an airplane making it an ideal option for families who travel frequently.
Senior Review Editor Wendy Schmitz has been reviewing strollers and other baby gear for more than two years. She and the rest of our team of product testers test each stroller by pushing, running the strollers, folding them and lifting them to assess their performance, comfort and usability. All of them are moms and understand the importance of a quality stroller for everyday use and family outings. This year, we expanded our test pool to include five stroller and parenting experts: Lisa Trofe, executive director of the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association; Kyleyn Gosewisch, customer care specialist at strolleria, a retailer that focuses on strollers; Marielle Marquez, a pediatric occupational therapy therapist; Holly Choi, cofounder and co-owner of Safe Beginnings First Aid, an organization that offers child safety tools; and Sarah Huff, senior manager of community and customer service at BabyQuip, a stroller and baby equipment rental company.
The BOB Sport Utility
The BOB Sport utility is the best stroller to choose when you want to leave the track and work out. This jogging stroller features pneumatic knobby tires that are ideal for running trails and hand brakes that let you control the downhills. It also features a state-of the-art suspension system, two-step folding, and a large cargo basket. You can even use it with an infant car seat if you buy the appropriate adapters.
The main flaw of this jogging stroller is its weight and fold dimensions. It weighs 25lbs and folds to 17,850 cubic inches, which is about average for this category of strollers. Its size isn’t ideal for tight turns or small trunk spaces, though it has a handle at the back of the storage basket that can be pulled to fold it into a compact, flat position.
This stroller is simple to maneuver, despite its size. The front wheel is equipped with a locking mechanism, which lets you switch between locked and normal mode. The handlebar can be adjusted to different parent heights. It also has a wide seat that can recline almost completely flat, and it has a large, vinyl peek-a-boo window that is easy to open and close.
Another plus is the Sport Utility’s outstanding quality, which earned it a 9 of 10 in this measure. It has a thick aluminum frame with tight connections and no rough edges or weak stitching. It also has adjustable dampers which aid in smooth rolling performance.
The Sport Utility stroller, like the other BOBs we’ve reviewed comes with adapters for car seats. This allows you to use it with a variety of infant car seats. It took us 5:24 minutes during our tests to assemble the stroller, starting from unpacking it to getting it ready to go. It was simple enough to complete, but you’ll require an Philips head screwdriver to complete the task. The instruction manual included is clear and well-organized. However, it’s still recommended to keep one in your case.
The Baby Trend Expedition
This jogger is built with safety, fashion and ease of use as its main goals. It comes with a tray for parents that has two cup holders and covered storage, and a child tray that is able to swing away and includes two cup holders. The adjustable canopy with a peek-a-boo window and the extra-wide ergonomically shaped handle offer comfort for both parents. The lockable front swivel wheel on the front can be locked for jogging, and unlocked for strolling. The large storage basket is perfect for storing the essential items you need to travel with.
In the Strollers test program at Consumer Reports, the Baby Trend Expedition jogger performs well overall, for its price, and gets higher marks than many of its competitors in various categories. This includes ease of using the 5-point harness, folding and unfolding, adjusting the backrest, engaging the brakes on the wheel, and infant car seat removal and installation (only for compatible models). It has a simple design and a one-handed recline that’s deep enough to allow napping. The canopy cover that has ratcheting can be difficult. It takes about 8 minutes to put it up, and the instructions are confusing with multiple languages mixed together and difficult-to-read illustrations.
The only negative about this stroller is that it doesn’t have a suspension system, so the ride may be bumpier than the other all-Terrain stroller strollers we’ve tested. This can cause discomfort for young kids, especially when they’re on close to a nap. It does have air-filled tires but they don’t have as much shock absorption like the rubber wheels that are found on strollers that are more expensive.
This is a great choice for those who don’t intend to run frequently, but want to move over grass and gravel without difficulty and without problems with curbs, or other obstacles. It’s also a good option for families with a limited space as it folds into the size of a compact all terrain buggy unit. It’s lighter than many of the other strollers we’ve tested and can fit into spaces that some full-size strollers don’t.
It is also easier to lift and move than the bulkier joggers that we have test. This is particularly crucial if you need to lift it into and out of the trunk of your car frequently or if you’re constantly moving.
The Nipper Sport V4
If you’re looking for the Best all-terrain travel system jogger that can handle lightest all terrain stroller terrains, then take a look at the Nipper Sport V4. This latest version of Out ‘n’ About’s three-wheeled running stroller is made for jogging and features large pneumatic alloy tyres with a 16-inch diameter that can tackle even the roughest paths and tracks. The Nipper is also lightweight and compact, making it easy to fold and carry.
The pushchair is equipped with a range of characteristics that make it perfect for all kinds of terrain, including front suspension and the handlebar brake. It also has a recline seat that can be adjusted in multiple positions and a removable quilted seat liner, along with a five-point safety harness and a hinged bumper bar. It’s also travel system-compatible which means you can use it with the Cybex Maxi-Cosi or a Be-Safe infant car seat.
The buggy also features a large front wheel that ensures an enjoyable ride for the child. This is particularly important when tackling difficult terrain as it enables the buggy to follow better and glide better over bumps and dips. Nipper Sport is easy to drive and comes with a single pedal brake. The handlebar features an ergonomic design and a single-pedal easy-lock brake with adjustable steering. The buggy is also easy to fold and has clear step-by-step instructions and pictures in the user’s manual.
The Nipper Sport is suitable for children from the age of six months. It can be used with a newborn thanks to its infant insert built-in. It is not recommended to use it on babies less than six months old since the harness isn’t tight enough to secure them safely.
The pushchair is also without a storage basket underneath the seat. It does have a small grocery pouch on the back of the seat, but it would not be large enough to accommodate the size of a large bag for changing. It is, however, extremely easy to open and close, with just two hand-holds needed to release the plastic catches that are on either side of the lower frame. There is also a secondary lock catch on the red handlebar that can be loosened with just one hand, making it incredibly convenient to use.
