Line-up
The album’s third, Turn Back, marked the return to the traditional sextet arrangement of the previous albums. It was a more ferocious, consistent effort that had an edge that was stronger than Hydra. The edgier sound of Turn Back was a reflection of the development of the group. Drummer Bobby Kimball’s increased ability to play was evident in the vocal delivery of Joseph Williams, who had become more confident and mature.
