Three Wheeled Buggies
If you’re seeking a buggy to run with or just a nifty stroller to tackle the neighborhood, three-wheeled buggies are great for mobility. Their compact design makes them easy to maneuver even in tight spaces.
For a smooth ride, opt for a pram that has air-filled tyres. Look for models with an swivel wheel that rotates 360 degrees in front. They are, however, susceptible, to punctures. Make sure you have an repair kit.
Frame made of sturdy material
New figures show that the three-wheeled buggies, the symbol of the noughties that were more expensive than common sense, are in a steep decline. They’ve been replaced with four-wheelers that are able to handle a wider variety of terrain, while still looking swanky and being easy to push.
The bigger the wheels are, the better your buggy will cope with bumpy surfaces and uneven pavements. The larger wheels, both front and rear facing 3 wheel stroller, make it easier to maneuver and more stable while walking downhill or over difficult terrain.
MFM reviewer Kath tried the buggy with a newborn and 3 year old and found that it was able to handle grass, cobbles, rough roads, dirt tracks and kerbs. She said that it felt solid to push, and extremely solid on rough terrain. Its tyres (which are inflatable and require occasionally pumping) come with suspension built-in that was very comfortable for my kids.
The shape and size of the seat is a further factor to think about. You’ll want it to be large enough to accommodate your child’s comfort. You will also need it to recline to allow them to lie flat. Certain three-wheel buggies have a full lie-flat option while others will only allow a parent facing one.
The Roma Atlas is a great option for off-road and wet walks. This buggy is ideal for a single child starting from birth, and can be adapted to accommodate two children as your family grows. It is suitable for babies and toddlers from age four and includes a bumper bar, raincover, an improved 5-point harness and a spacious padded seat unit. Storage options are also good with a large storage basket with zip pockets on the hood, and an attractive pouch at the rear of seat unit.
Larger wheels
Larger wheels mean your buggy will have more stability on rough terrain – perfect for buggies that are off-road. They also allow you to navigate the pushchair through tight spaces. Many three wheeled buggies have rotating front wheels that aid you in maneuvering around corners with ease, whereas others are designed for running and have fixed front wheels that lock to increase the speed and stability at which they can be driven. This is also useful if you crash into a tree or a kerb. The front wheel will lift slightly to prevent hitting it.
A lot of best 3 wheel stroller with car seat wheel pushchairs have air-filled tyres, which means they are able to handle different terrains and are far more adaptable than 4-wheelers. They are also lighter. However, they’re prone to punctures, so you’ll need to keep a repair kit, spare inner tube, and pump on hand.
Mountain Buggy Core, Venicci Carbo and Venicci Carbo lux are some of our favourite best 3 wheel buggy-wheelers. These buggies, as per MFM’s Kath, have larger wheels which according to her “perform well on gravel roads, grass and market town cobbles” and are able to move up and down kerbs. The buggies also have suspension that Kath says “smooths out bumps with great efficiency”.
Buggies with larger wheels may be quite large, and may struggle to fit into narrow spaces. This can be an issue especially if you’re using it to a jogger or you need to to get through doors that are narrow when out and out and about. The majority of models come with compact folding options that permit you to take off the front wheels and store them in a more compact manner.
Easy to manoeuvre
A three-wheeler can be more maneuverable for a child. The way in which they are built ensures that the front wheels turn on a dime and are incredibly maneuverable and are ideal for tricky terrain such as parks, cobbles, bumpy pavements and dirt tracks.
MFM reviewer Kath tried a 3-wheeler with her toddler and newborn and wrote: “The Terrain was a pleasure to maneuver over tough ground and the swivel front wheel being particularly helpful. I was also amazed by how well it dealt with kerbs using the hand-operated break. It was very stable for descending or on a rough terrain.”
The only downside of this incredible mobility is that the 3 wheel stroller with Infant car seat wheel buggy’s bigger wheels sometimes mean it has to be difficult to maneuver in tight spaces – something to consider when you live in a metropolitan region. If this is a problem then a 4-wheeler might be a better choice for you.
Bumper bar
Bumper bars are the ideal way to protect your little one from scrapes and bumps when out and out and about. These bumper bars are simple to install, and will allow your child to feel safe and secure out and out and about.

The sling is stowed inside the frame it is not positioned on top like the seat that is modular. This creates a lower centre of gravity for your newborn at the ideal height, and also delivers great weight distribution, making it easier to pop over curbs (it is much easier to push a stroller up and over than you may think). MFM reviewer Kath found it coped really well with cobbles and grass and is a great choice for jogging due to its lockable swivel front wheel that can be locked and air filled tyres.

It’s not the only reason you should love this buggy Our MFM reviewer Kath was amazed by how big it is as well. There’s a big, easily accessible basket that’s quite spacious for a buggy of this size and there’s an easy-to-use pouch that zips up on the back of the seat unit and even 2 smaller mesh pockets under the hood to keep your keys and phone.
