iRobot Roomba combination adapts to your cleaning routine and suggests programs that are suitable for you. Smart mapping, automatic schedules and Clean While I Am Away are just a few of the carefully curated iRobot OS features.

The iRobot app lets you look over images of objects that the Combo j7+ captures to determine which areas it should stay clear of (lamp cords, for instance). You can also modify the map by drawing specific zones the robot should stay clear from.

Vacuuming

The Combo Essential features a powerful 4-Stage Cleaner that vacuums and mops in one pass. This system can reach areas which are difficult to reach, such as underneath the couch. It uses intelligent navigation to organize the cleaning in neat rows for wall-to-wall cleaning as well as to prevent falling down stairs, while sensors help navigate around furniture. Clean Base Auto-Fill Docks empty debris for up to 60 days, and refills liquid to ensure that it is able to clean itself autonomously. Plus, it’s compatible with more cleaning solutions than any other 2-in-1.

The roomba combo is a powerful mopper, but it isn’t equipped with some of the more advanced features that make the Roomba J7+ an outstanding sweeper and mover. It changes from mopping to sweeping when it detects a damp surface. A small robot arm raises the tiny combo water tank/dustbin. Then, when you press the button on the side of the cleaner, a new pad slides into place and is ready to go.

Its navigation was in line with the best iRobot robots I tested and it was able to make good progress even when the path wasn’t entirely clear. It’s not the best irobot roomba at avoiding obstacles but it is quick to identify and avoid larger objects such as socks and toys.

The app allows you to alter your schedule. You can create an individual cleaning path and create Keep Out Zones (or Clean Zones) that will direct the robot in the proper direction. It also shows the details of what it has accomplished and its health status. You can also pair it with Alexa, Siri or Google Assistant enabled devices for voice control. iRobot’s smart platform automatically updates the software of Combo with new features and capabilities.

Mopping

When it’s time to mop your robot switches to MOP mode and deploys its specially designed microfiber pad to take on the wet mess on hard floors like pet footprints, smudges or spills. SmartScrub powered by iRobot OS uses consistent pressure to scrub deep tough messes. It also learns based on previous cleaning projects. It prioritizes dirtier rooms, and adjusts settings like suction and scrubbing intensity. The Clean Base auto-empties debris and replenishes the tank for 30 days of hands-free clean, and it’s compatible with the majority of compatible cleaning products.

Object Detection

They also use sensors to detect carpets and rugs. They then adjust their cleaning settings according to the recognition, helping to prevent wet mess. They have an automatic sensor that informs them when to stop cleaning and resurface.

With Smart Mapping, Roomba maps your home 7x faster, names rooms to start targeted cleaning sooner and customizes Keep Out Zones and Clean Zones. The app or voice commands with Alexa, Siri or Google Assistant allow you to direct your robot to specific rooms and areas.

Roomba is able to recognize and avoid more than 80 common objects, including power cords and backpacks. It also knows to stay clear of toilets and litter boxes as well as pet’ toys. Your iRobot Combo j7+ can also identify and avoid solid pet waste with Precision Vision Navigation.

With iRobot OS you can see the history of cleaning your robot including maps and image data. You can even choose the Dirt Detective feature, which prioritizes cleaning the dirtiest rooms first. You can also look up a schedule estimate to know how long the robot will be in your home. And iRobot OS makes thoughtful suggestions, like extra cleaning schedules in the time of pet sheds and is delivered directly to your mobile device. You should be comfortable giving up personal information for any smart home device which collects and manages your data. In our tests, every company whose product we review was asked about the security measures for sensitive data. iRobot states that it doesn’t sell customer data, and outlines the Privacy Principles on its website.

Navigation

The Roomba Combo makes use of Imprint Smart Mapping to map and learn your floorplan. It then can re-map it as necessary. You can map your room and then set your cleaning preferences through the iRobot App. The Roomba will clean the area automatically when it comes to future missions. Roomba provides Dirt Detective which automatically prioritizes the areas that are most filthy for most frequent vacuuming or mopping. PrecisionVision Navigation allows it to stay clear of objects like charging cables shoes, socks and cables. This is a great feature that can help you save time when you’re trying to complete a task done.

Battery Life

The Combo J7+ is powered by lithium-ion batteries, which offers plenty of power to help you clean your home. The water tank and dust bin can accommodate 400 and 200 ml, respectively. It also features an efficient filter system that removes dirt particles to stop them from returning. It is compatible with the iRobot app and voice assistants so you can control it using your smartphone or other devices.

Another great feature is the ability to snap pictures of objects, which can help the Combo J7+ avoid these objects in future cleaning runs. Irobot Roomba Vacuum however, decided not to include an automatic mop pad cleaning. This is something that we’ve seen in the past with top robotic cleaners. This isn’t a major issue however it would’ve been nice to have this feature on the Combo J7+. Apart from that, the Combo J7+ is a breeze to use and comes with an excellent warranty policy.
