How to Replace an audi spare Key Cost G28 Engine Speed Sensor

Charles the Humble Technician teaches you how to replace the G28 Engine Speed Sensor. This sensor is located at the top of the transmission, replacement key for audi a3 above the flywheel ring gear. It transmits a signal to the ECU via an uncolored wire T55/49, then to the tachometer in the instrument cluster.

1. Engine Speed Sensor

The grey wire is located on the outside of the transmission, directly above the flywheel ring. The sensor sends a signal via the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU uses this information to control boost and fuel. It also sends an indication to the G5 Tachometer within the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used as a reference point to connect with the G40 Camshaft Position Sensor. The ecu must be aware when the crankshaft is TDC and where the camshaft is so it can start spark and injectors in the right way.

If this sensor fails to function, the ECU will display a P00160 error code. This means that the Crank Shaft is out of line with the Intake Camshaft. It could also be a sign of a chain stretch or a jumped chain link in the upper chain of timing. The code won’t show without the additional information supplied by other sensors (G4 or G40).

Testing is a bit tricky as there are two different pins for the connector and they have different functions however the best method of testing it is to measure resistance between the sensor and the ECU. When the sensor is operational, it should be reading around 1000 ohms. If you’re experiencing issues with this sensor, look for evidence of oil or coolant in the connector bay.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, while accelerating from the highway paytoll at maximum speed I noticed a significant reduction in power. It was as if the engine was running out of gas. Or my injectors were not firing. In the morning, i removed the spark plugs, three were soaked with gazoline and the fourth one was dry. I placed a tissue over each injector hole and when i start the engine with no sparks, the 3 with gazoline jump out. The fourth one remains shut. I inspected the ground connection on ECU pins 14/55, 30/55 and 48/55. i get 0ohm. Therefore, i think the issue is somewhere else.

I also tried to reset the PID without success. The audi car keys replacement will start if the G28 is disconnected and runs fine when it is connected, but still has intermittent misfire issues at higher RPM. The temperature sensor for coolant (G62) shows the wrong temperature of -49c even when i unplug it. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bar but the actual pressure is zero.

I’m not sure what to do. I feel like i’ve pretty much ruled everything else out. I’m worried that i might have missed something. Please let me know If you have any suggestions! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump in the g28 receives a signal from the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter is the same as the G4 and both function in the 80, 100, 200, UrS and RS2 cars so you can easily find one at a junkyard or from a parts store. It is simple to test them to do – just put your DMM in resistance mode and take measurements between pins 1 (with the bump on the connector end up) and 2 (2nd from the left on the black connector’s end). They must be infinite Ohms.

4. ECU
