French-door fridges combine functionality and form. They come with stylish double doors that show the large fridge on top, and a freezer drawer below. Special features like door-to-door dispensers, high-end ice machines and flex drawers that can be customized make them stand out from the crowd.

We asked Ladina Schopf – an interior designer, architect and the founder of LS Projects – for her advice on how to choose the best one. They evaluated the capacity of storage and layout, energy efficiency, and other factors.

GE Profile Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

Like its name implies, GE’s Profile series is targeted at those who wish to incorporate cutting-edge technology into their kitchens. This fridge has them all from a Keurig K cup coffee maker on the door to a smart dispenser of water. But these flourishes don’t mask mediocre performance, especially in the refrigerator’s freezer and an ineffective temperature-controlled drawer. This refrigerator is costly and I was expecting better.

Apart from that minor flaw the fridge is a great option. It comes with a huge freezer compartment, which is quite uncommon in counter-depth French door fridges, and it holds a fair amount of frozen foods as compared to similar models.

Inside the fridge, you’ll find 17 shelves and compartments. The fridge compartment is 18.5 cubic feet, which is typical for a French-door fridge at this price. It also has a decent sized ice maker packed into the left door, though it’s not the biggest I’ve seen.

You can adjust the shelves in both compartments for the perfect storage solution. The interior design of the GE PYE22PYNFS also looks attractive. Its LED lighting is a nice addition, and the in-door storage bins have the third shelf, which can fold down to make it possible to store tall items. The drawers have temperature controls that let you set them to Meat, Beverage or Deli settings. The drawers are simple to open and shut, but I found the textured plastic coatings a bit hard on my fingers.

The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator comes with the all the features you’d expect from a refrigerator in this price range that includes Wi-Fi as well as app support through GE’s SmartHQ software. The app is available on iOS and Android devices and allows you to control your refrigerator from any place across the globe. It also offers many options for customization. It also gives you notifications when a door is left open, when the fridge or freezer is in need of defrosting, and when it’s time to change the filter.

It is nice if the GE PYE22PYNFS included Precise fill, an option available in a handful of other GE fridges that allow you to set the number of cups of water you’d like to disperse simultaneously. It also has an indicator on the fridge display to show how much water you have left, but it’s not as helpful as Precise Fill.

Designed to look like a seamless part of your kitchen, Bosch’s French-door refrigerator is one of a kind. The fridge uses fingerprint-resistant stainless steel, which is a great feature for busy households. The ice maker is one of the best we’ve ever tested, and it produces a pyramid-shaped form of ice with a low water consumption. This refrigerator is ideal for a single household or a kitchenette with a built-in appearance and top-of-the best french door fridge with water dispenser food preservation.

This fridge was rated the most efficient in our Refrigerators Test for several reasons. The temperature of the freezer remained constant at just above 0° Fahrenheit and never changed more than a tiny fraction – this is crucial to prevent the risk of a freezer burn. The fridge’s fridge section also performed well, achieving the desired initial set temperature within an hour and keeping the temperature constant over the course of our testing.

Bosch is known for its high-end appliances. Therefore, it’s no surprise that the Bosch counter depth fridge can be connected to your home Wi Fi and Bosch’s platform Home Connect. The app allows you to monitor and control your refrigerator remotely from your tablet or smartphone. The fridge is expensive, but it comes with excellent features and functionality for the cost.

While the fridge is a fantastic piece of equipment, it’s important to know the limitations. It is possible to be inventive with tall items since the fridge has a small shelf space. Additionally, the shelves are not impervious to sprills and could be stained or damaged by sharp objects. The trays are easily removed from the fridge. However, they must be cleaned frequently to stop the growth of mold.

LG Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The LG LRFLC2706S is an excellent counter-depth refrigerator that packs a lot of storage into an extremely compact frame. It has a sleek, fingerprint-resistant stainless-steel finish and features thick handles that make them comfortable to grip. Inside, the fridge features an ordinary French-door design with gallon-sized door bins at each door and two rows of shelves for spill-capture and a set of sleeker drawers. The top shelf on the right side can be folded down to make space for tall items. There’s also a full-width drawer for deli items and an internal water dispenser.

One of the great aspects of this refrigerator is that its ice maker is inside the freezer, which makes it simple to move the ice to the refrigerator for use when needed. The freezer also has clever design features, such as sliding drawers that help you sort your things. It also has a large container for storing frozen food and a separate one for ice.

Another cool feature of this refrigerator is its Smart InstaView panel. It allows you to control the fridge’s temperature, lighting, and more from your smartphone. It’s a simple way to keep track of your refrigerator and control it, particularly when you’re away from home.

However, while the Smart InstaView is a neat feature, it doesn’t necessarily add to the overall performance of the refrigerator. The fridge took a bit longer to defrost food and chill it than other models we test. This could be due to the bigger capacity.

The doors are another problem with this fridge. The sunken handles allow shorter people to open them from the bottom. However, taller people still have a hard time closing them without slamming. It would have been more effective to have front-mounted handles.

The LG Counter-Depth MAX fridge is an excellent option for those looking to combine the aesthetics of a french door fridge measurements-door refrigerator with a more efficient design. Its capacity is above average for counter-depth models and what is the smallest french door refrigerator able to cool evenly. It’s also a bit less than the top counter-depth refrigerator that has an ice maker, which can make it a desirable choice.

Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

This Frigidaire French door refrigerator is a great choice when you’re looking for a french door fridge non plumbed door refrigerator that doesn’t cost a lot of budget. It’s a basic fridge that may not be as appealing like some of its competitors however, it does have enough features to make a an excellent option. Its main characteristic is the adjustable temperature drawer that helps keep food items like meat and vegetables fresher for longer. It also has a large water dispenser as well as a good ice maker that operates quickly.

Another nice feature is the “Chill Drawer” that sits over the two crisper bins. This drawer allows you to redirect the majority of the refrigerator’s cooling power to the area so that you can store foods which need extra attention. This feature can be adjusted using an outside slider that is located inside the drawer. You can also use this to set a general cooling level for the entire fridge, though I’ve found that adjusting the general settings tends to be more effective than specific ones.

During my tests, the temperature of the refrigerator were fairly consistent across all areas of the refrigerator. The temperatures in the top, bottom and middle of the refrigerator didn’t vary significantly from 38 degrees. This is a great performance but doesn’t quite make it to the top of our ratings.

This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. The fridge can be linked with a smart thermostat in order to obtain more precise readings of the internal temperature of your fridge.

The Frigidaire FGHB2866PF’s exterior is constructed of grey-bodied stainless steel that has a “smudge-proof” finish. It does a great job of repelling fingerprints and streaks even when compared with glossier stainless steel finishes on other appliances I’ve tried.
