Three Wheeled Buggies
Whether you’re looking for a buggy to run with or just a stroller that can be used for the neighborhood, three-wheeled buggies provide great mobility. Their compact design makes them easy to maneuver even in tight spots.
If you are looking for a smooth ride on your pram, choose models with 360deg front wheels that can swivel. They are, however, susceptible, to punctures. Make sure you have an repair kit.
Sturdy frame
New data show that three-wheeled buggies, the emblem of the noughties, which had more money than common sense, are in steep decline. Four-wheelers are replacing them, and are more versatile and easy to drive while still looking stylish.
The bigger the wheels are the better your buggy will cope with uneven surfaces and bumpy pavements. The larger wheels on both the front and back makes it much easier to maneuver and more stable when walking downhill or over difficult terrain.
MFM reviewer Kath tried this buggy out with a newborn and a 3 wheeler stroller year old and found that it coped well with cobbles, grass rough pavements, dirt tracks and kerbs. Kath said it felt solid to push, and very solid on difficult terrain. The tyres, that are inflatable and require to be pumped up occasionally they have suspension built-in. It was extremely comfortable for my kids.
Another thing to consider is the size of the seat and shape. You will want it to be large enough for your child’s comfort and you will also want it to be able to recline for them to lie flat. Some three-wheel buggies will have a full lie-flat option while others allow an adult facing one.
The Roma Atlas is a great alternative for off-road or walking in muddy areas. This buggy is ideal for a single child from birth, and can be adapted to accommodate two children as your family grows. It is suitable for infants and toddlers from birth until age 4. It includes a bumper with a rain cover, an upgraded 5-point harness, and a huge padded seat. Storage options are also good with a large basket, zip pockets on the hood and a handy pouch on the rear of the seat unit.
Larger wheels
Larger wheels will give your buggy greater stability when driving on rough terrain. This is perfect for buggies designed for off-road use. They also make it easier to navigate the pushchair through tight spaces. Many three wheeled buggies have the front wheels that swivel to help you navigate around tight corners, while others are designed for running and come with fixed front wheels that lock to increase the speed and stability at which they can be driven. This is particularly useful when you hit trees or a kerb. The front wheel can be lifted slightly to prevent hitting it.
A majority of 3 wheeled pushchairs have air-filled tyres, which allows them to tackle a broad range of terrains. They are also more flexible than 4 wheelers. They’re also lighter. However, they’re prone to punctures so you’ll need an repair kit, spare inner tube, and pump on hand.
Mountain Buggy Core, Venicci Carbo and Venicci Carbo lux are some of our favourite 3-wheelers. According to MFM’s Kath, have larger wheels, which, she says “perform well on grass, gravel roads and market town cobbles” and are able to go up or down kerbs. They also have a suspension system that in her words “smoothes out bumps with great efficiency”.
Buggies with larger wheels can be quite wide, and they may be a challenge to fit into tight spaces. This is an issue if you plan to use it for jogging or have to squeeze through narrow doorways while traveling. Fortunately, many models come with small folding options that allow you to remove the front wheels to create more compact storage.
Easy to Manoeuvre
A three-wheel buggy can be more maneuverable for a child. The way in which they are built means that the front wheels spin at a whim and are really easy to manoeuvre which makes them perfect for difficult terrains like cobbles, parks, bumpy pavements and dirt tracks.
MFM reviewer Kath tested a 3 wheeler strollers wheeler with her newborn and toddler and stated: “The Terrain was a pleasure to navigate over the rough ground with the swivel rear wheel being particularly helpful. I was also awed by the way it handled the kerbs, particularly when using the brake operated by hand. I found it extremely stable when driving downhill or on uneven ground.”
The only drawback of this incredible maneuverability is that the 3 wheel buggy’s bigger wheels sometimes mean that it will struggle in tight spaces – something to consider when you live in a city region. If this is the case, a 4-wheeled buggy may be a better option for you.
Bumper bar
Bumper bars are the ideal method to protect your child from scrapes and bumps while out and out and about. These bumper bars are simple to install and will help your child feel safe and secure out and about.
The bumper bar is designed to complement the sleek lines on the sleek lines of your Slim Twin stroller. It has a soft, cushioned surface to provide a comfortable place for your child to grab onto during walks. The robust construction and sturdy design will ensure that your child is comfortable strolling around the town without fear of falling or leaning towards the side.
The sling seat is snug inside the frame instead of on top of it like modular seats. It provides the lowest centre of gravity at the right height for your newborn and also delivering an excellent weight distribution to facilitate kerb pop (it takes much less effort to push a buggy up and over the curb than you think). MFM reviewer Kath said it’s great on grass and cobbles. It’s also a great alternative for running, thanks to its air-filled tyres as well as a locking swivel wheels.

Kath the MFM reviewer, also appreciated the spaciousness of the buggy. There’s an easily accessible, large basket that is quite spacious for a buggy of this size.
