The i3+ EVO’s obstacle avoidance isn’t as effective as the other robots we tested and it repeatedably encountered objects during our tests, such as handbags, shoes and pet toys before continuing its course. It also had issues dealing with salt from kosher, coarse which it blew up and around instead of picking up.

The vacuum also does a decent job of picking up pet hair from carpets but it’s not equipped with the same level of power as our top picks.

However the Roborock S4 Max is better constructed, requires less time to recharge than the Shark and offers more scheduling and automation features as well as support for no-go zones. We’d still recommend the Shark when you’re looking to buy something less expensive, or if you prefer to use your mobile phone for control and monitoring instead of a remote that is specifically designed for it.
