Origins
The early history of Toto, which began in 1917, mirrored Japan’s rapid economic expansion. In the first half of 1917, Toto manufactured products to meet the demands for modern, brand new urban housing. To accomplish this, it used the first tunnel kiln in the nation to make ceramics in continuous flow. It also pioneered the use automation to control production, allowing for more efficiency and consistency.
The company began expanding overseas in the latter part of the 1980s to profit from new markets and sales opportunities. It created the Cera Trading Company, importing and selling other products from other manufacturers to complement its own range of plumbing fittings and sanitary earthenware. This strategy helped increase sales and expand the company’s market share in the world.
In the 1990s Toto began to concentrate on research and development for water-related appliances. It also upgraded its distribution system to better serve its customers and increase profit. The company employed the same just-in-time approach to its supply chain management and sales program. This resulted in a greater level of satisfaction of customers.
Toto has continued to innovate on the toilet technology. The most recent toilet features a strong, eco-friendly tornado flush. The company also makes use of recycled water in its production process and has a green procurement policy. Toto also produces bathtubs, faucets, and hand dryers that have higher energy efficiency than typical models.
The first museum of the company was opened in 2015 and features exhibits on Toto’s most iconic products and their evolution and its group companies (all having to do with ceramics) as well as the historical background of plumbing and products like bath units and, 메이저사이트 순위 in a different gallery, Toto products sold around the world. The museum houses bathrooms with a WASHLET as well as other toilet innovations.
Before the formation of Toto members of the group did sessions with various musicians. Boz Scaggs’ album Silk Degrees featured keyboardist David Paich as well as guitarists Mike Porcaro & Steve Lukather and drummer Jeff Porcaro & Steve Lukather. They also played on records by Steely Dan, Seals and Crofts, and Sonny and Cher.
Discography
With a name like Asia you’d think that the group would be prog queens and kings – but it’s actually a fairly straightforward rock band. The band started out as a quartet, and they recorded two albums: 1979’s self titled debut and 1980’s Armed to the Teeth. The group has a diverse musical background but their biggest success was in 1982 with Toto IV.
The album was a major blockbuster, but not without its share of issues. Record companies put the band on place with the directive “give us an album that is a success or we’ll take you off the market” and the pressure was on to meet the deadline. Toto was able achieve this with the help from the smash hit “Africa.”
Toto’s musical mastery is due to their previous experience, as the band members had been session musicians for artists like Boz Scaggs, Steely Dan, and Seals and Crofts prior the group. Their distinctive sound has since become the standard for ’80s pop, and has influenced many modern artists.
The album opens up hard with songs like Running Out of Time or Unknown Soldier that show the band’s ability to write fantastic AOR songs that slowly sink into your head. However, the album also includes some more mellow, jazzy tracks like The Little Things and Chinatown. And the album ends with Great Expectations, a song that combines folk with distortion AOR and 먹튀검증 could sound totally wrong, but works amazingly well.
After Toto IV The band’s fortunes took a turn towards the negative. David Hungate left the band to focus on his solo career and the band had a variety of drummers. In 1984, Bobby Kimball left the band following drug-related charges. The band remained with Michael Porcaro, Steve Lukather and Michael Porcaro.
Despite the turmoil, Toto forged ahead and released Isolation that was not as successful as IV. The group managed to release an album that topped the charts, Kingdom of Desire, in 1992. The album marked the end of the original Toto lineup and was the first to feature a new singer, Simon Phillips.

Turn Back, the band’s third studio album it was an ode to the classic sextet format, and a more consistent, stronger effort that had a more grittier edge. The more experimental sound of Turn Back reflected the growth of the band. Bobby Kimball’s growing proficiency was evident in the vocal delivery of Joseph Williams, who had become more confident and mature. Keyboardist David Paich’s work also was more precise, sharper and less cloying than previously recorded recordings.
After touring to promote their album, the band recorded their Amsterdam live show which was released on Eagle Records as a 2-CD set entitled Falling In Between. A new studio album was released just a few months later and the band embarked on an extensive world tour to promote it. In this time, keyboardist Greg Phillinganes replaced Paich and bassist David Hungate quit the group to spend time with his family.
In 1998, Paich & Lukather began exploring old tapes and demos to discover songs that had never been recorded prior to. The album was released in 2001 as a double album titled Then & Now. It was the first album in the band’s history not to feature a single song with the word “A” in the title, and it also contained one previously unreleased track, “Kari-Anne”.
By 2003, Toto had begun to decline in popularity. The group’s fourth record, Old Is New was not a commercial success and vocalist Williams was suffering from laryngitis, which affected his singing abilities. Hungate also returned to Nashville and Leland Sklar’s drumming duties were replaced by Shem Von Schroeck.
Downes, Wetton Palmer and Howe, the original members of Asia were in England in the beginning of 2006 to discuss the possibility that the group could be revived. This lineup, with the exception of Howe (who was working with Yes at the time) was later referred to as Toto XIV and toured extensively.
